Gorkha Farm

To be sustainable, development assistance cannot be merely charity. Progress is best achieved by helping people to attain goals by themselves. This increases self-esteem and maintains dignity, producing long-term positive change (see our Ideology page).

Our projects aim to contribute to common successes through hard work and personal responsibility. We work on three fronts:

Chepang Plant Collectors’ Cooperative: we work with a cooperative of wild plant collectors in Chitwan District. HBDT has trained them and both OneWorld and HBDT helped them to receive internationally recognized certification for sustainable collection of wild plants. HBDT has also worked with them on a project to combat poverty along with the German NGO Welthungerhilfe.

The Land of the Medicine Buddha: We maintain a medicinal plants farm in Gorkha District, where we develop cultivation methods and new products.
